In December 2015, a new project was launched that aimed at the improvement of the food and beverages sector’s workforce quality and increasing the competitiveness of the companies in the sector. The project implemented by the RA CCI with the technical assistance from the GIZ in the frameworks of the "Private Sector Development in the South Caucasus" Program. The program is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

At the first phase of the project it is planned to create tourism/food and beverage sector skills development center (SSDC). It will serve to the following purposes:

  • Defining the hard-stocked job positions in the sector and the early needs for employees’ skills of the employers
  • Supporting the companies in the sector in business planning and strategic management of human resources

  • Supporting employers in making reasonable contributions towards the development of human resources

  • Promoting job-based education

  • Collective impact of employers on vocational education and reforms in the field: that is to achieve result-oriented dialogue between the education providers and policy makers, compliance of sectors skills and educational programs with the requirements of demanded workforce as well as guaranteed quality

In this regard, it is planned to conduct meetings with the sectors’ driving force: the employers in the entire area of RA, as well as meetings with state agencies: As a result of which it is aimed to establish tourism/food and beverage sector skills development center (SSDC). The centers are aimed at creating qualified and skilled employees (including qualifications) in regard with the needs of private sector through the cooperation of educational system and private sector. The other goals are to participate in the definition of the descriptions of occupations in the sector, developing formal and informal curriculum as well as teaching and learning materials in the sector’s educational system.
